(I think this would be a great topic to bring up at your job interview for tech marketing as well. Think about how you can talk about our group project in relation to his observation of the myth (or failure) in social media marketing)
So, what the author emphasizes is exactly what I emphasized for our group project! (and that's what we learn from the class)
1. "He stressed that spending time up front doing analysis, research, and goal setting will make a social media plan easy to execute."
Yes, do research.
2. "He recommended first getting active as a lurker on different social media networks to see what’s happening and what people are saying. For example, check out what other companies are doing on Twitter and then assess what you like and don’t like."
This is one of the methods you can employ for your group project. In fact, not only our group project, but also our blog activities are based on such observation and experience.
3. "Cross promote your web site with the pages you set up on social media sites."
See. This is what we are doing by creating a micro-website that links to social media apps.
Think about how to promote your website beyond social media sites as well (so called, integration).
4. “It’s [social media] conversational. It’s dialogue,”
Voila. Remember the major characteristics of new comm. tech. and maximize those aspects.
